Owner/Director Tracy Hollander has spent the last 20 years of her professional life working in the education field. She has taught preschool through eighth grade and has been a tireless advocate for children and families as they pursue the best education possible. After teaching middle school science and being involved in the development of a middle school STEAM makerspace, Tracy was brought back to her days teaching younger kids and was struck by the idea that they are natural “makers” and “tinkerers”. Developmentally, young children learn and understand best from what they can see, touch, feel, and manipulate and a makerspace is made up of those exact opportunities. Tracy is beyond excited to accompany you and your child on this fun and educational journey!
Tracy is a California credentialed teacher. She received her BA in Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from the University of San Francisco. She has taught grades preschool through eighth grade in New York City, San Francisco, Oakland and most recently in Berkeley.
Tracy has been active in the Berkeley Unified School District PTA over the past 13 years and formerly served as President of the Berkeley PTA Council. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Berkeley Public Schools Fund.
Tracy is dedicated to the community of Berkeley and very familiar with the school system, having both worked for BUSD and having children who attend the Berkeley schools. She has two teenage children who have attended Rosa Parks Elementary, Berkwood Hedge, Longfellow Middle School, King Middle School and Berkeley High School.
Tracy is excited to continue her passion for working with children in this new venue. Providing children with hands-on opportunities and the ability to follow their curiosities wherever they lead is what makes learning exciting and joyful. Tracy is honored to be able to share in this adventure with you and your children!
